Two-Hour Delayed Start – Friday, October 23, 2026
Out of an abundance of caution and due to anticipated weather conditions, the district will implement a two-hour delayed start for Friday, October 23, 2026.
All school bus routes will operate on a two-hour delay, consistent with the adjusted school start times.
The district will continue to monitor weather conditions and assess road conditions throughout the early morning hours, with particular attention to the safety and accessibility of our rural roads and bus routes. We will provide an update by 7:00 a.m. Friday regarding the status of school operations.
The safety of our students, staff, and families remains our highest priority. We appreciate your patience, understanding, and cooperation as we evaluate conditions and make decisions in the best interest of our school community.

At this time, schools will remain on their regular schedule, and we will not be releasing students early. Parents and guardians who wish to pick up their students may do so at their discretion.
We will continue to closely monitor weather conditions and guidance from local weather authorities. Should conditions change or additional action become necessary, we will communicate updates to families and the community as promptly as possible.

Please be advised that the road closure is scheduled for October 26 through November 6, 2026, inclusive. The closure begins Monday, October 26, and runs through Friday, November 6.
🚗 Please follow the approved detour routes shown on the flyer and allow extra travel time. Watch for road closure signs and use caution in the construction area.

Student Council wanted to give back to the brave men and women that fight to keep our country safe. They wanted to honor those who fought and did not come home complete. We want to honor the veterans in our community who are disabled and who served our beautiful country. We are partnering with DAV to raise funds to help support the Disabled American Veterans. Each of our donation flags represents one Disabled Veterans to honor their sacrifice.

Please remember:
No backpacks are allowed.
Teachers will provide alternative activities or assignments.
Lunches and water bottles are allowed.
Cell phones may be carried in students’ pockets if needed.

Attention Los Alamitos Middle School and Mesa View Elementary Families and Staff:
A bear was spotted and reported in the area of Jefferson and Washington early this morning. We are asking all families, staff, and students to use extra caution when traveling to and from school.
For everyone’s safety, please take the following precautions:
If your child normally walks to school, please arrange to drive them today. We ask that families remain alert and take extra precautions when bringing students to school.
Los Alamitos Middle School (LAMS): Principal Smith has determined that LAMS will operate under a modified Shelter in Place protocol for the day as a precaution. If there are any changes to this status, families and staff will be notified.
Mesa View Elementary: Once students and families arrive on campus, school administration will provide additional information regarding safety protocols and procedures for the remainder of the day.
