Dear Parents and Guardians, Due to a report of a bear in the area surrounding Mt. Taylor Elementary, we will be making a temporary adjustment to our dismissal procedures today as a precaution. All students who normally walk home will need to be picked up by a parent or guardian. Students who are being picked up or riding the bus will remain under adult supervision as they transition from the building to their designated ride. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we take these precautionary steps to help ensure the safety of our students and staff. Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

SAFETY NOTICE – LOS ALAMITOS MIDDLE SCHOOL & MESA VIEW ELEMENTARY Attention Los Alamitos Middle School and Mesa View Elementary Families and Staff: A bear was spotted and reported in the area of Jefferson and Washington early this morning. We are asking all families, staff, and students to use extra caution when traveling to and from school. For everyone’s safety, please take the following precautions: If your child normally walks to school, please arrange to drive them today. We ask that families remain alert and take extra precautions when bringing students to school. Los Alamitos Middle School (LAMS): Principal Smith has determined that LAMS will operate under a modified Shelter in Place protocol for the day as a precaution. If there are any changes to this status, families and staff will be notified. Mesa View Elementary: Once students and families arrive on campus, school administration will provide additional information regarding safety protocols and procedures for the remainder of the day. ATTENTION GCCS FAMILIES! GCCS school buses will operate as normal on Wednesday, September 30. However, due to persistent rainfall over the past several days, we understand that road conditions in some rural surrounding areas may be muddy or unsafe. If your student lives in a rural area and is unable to safely travel to school due to road conditions, they will be excused from attendance. This request is being made as a precaution to help ensure the safety of our students and their families as weather and road conditions continue to develop.

Parents/guardians are asked to make arrangements to pick up their students. Please follow the school’s regular student checkout procedures upon arrival. Buses will run on a regular schedule.
